Luggage, pets and children

Three questions come up with almost every booking: does our luggage fit, does every child need a seat, and can the dog come? Here are the answers, before you have to ask.

Why special luggage has to be flagged in advance

An underfloor hold is designed for suitcases. They stack, fill the corners and can be secured. Skis, double basses, stage equipment and wheelchairs do not — they take up space three suitcases would have used, and they have to be strapped differently.

If we know beforehand what is coming, we plan for it: a bigger vehicle, fewer seats taken, or a trailer. If we find out on departure day, something occasionally has to stay behind. That is the most unpleasant moment of any journey for everyone involved, and it is avoidable.

Bicycles as a rule only work with a trailer. Ask beforehand and we will tell you honestly whether it is possible.

Bulky items need planning

Skis, instruments, equipment — all possible, but not spontaneously.

Children on the bus

  • Their own seatFor every passenger, whatever their age. There is no standing room in our vehicles.
  • Seat belts compulsoryFor everyone. With minors the accompanying adult sees to it, not the driver.
  • Child seatsNot required in buses over 3.5 tonnes. The belt does have to fit — with very young children, raise it beforehand.
  • Accompanying adults countThey need a seat too and go into the vehicle size.

Pets

Assistance dogs travel with you as a matter of course, without registering and without a surcharge. For all other animals we decide for the particular journey, so: mention it when you enquire.

It is not a matter of principle but of three practical questions. How big is the animal, how long is the journey, and is there anyone in the group with an allergy? A small dog in a carrier for an hour is something different from a German shepherd on the way to the Baltic coast.

What does not work: animals turning up unannounced on departure day. That leaves the driver with a decision they cannot make at that notice.

Loading without the rush

We are there beforehand so that loading does not end in a scramble.

Common questions

Can we eat and drink on the bus?

Yes. For larger parties let us know and we will schedule cleaning time. Open flames and anything that cannot be got out of the carpet are out.

Where does hand luggage go?

In the racks above the seats and by your feet. The underfloor hold is for the large luggage.

Can we bring a wheelchair?

Folding wheelchairs travel as special luggage in the underfloor hold. For step-free boarding please speak to us beforehand — not every vehicle is equally suited to it.

Are you liable for luggage?

Within the statutory framework. Valuables, electronics and medication belong in hand luggage, not in the hold.
