Day trips and city breaks by bus
A day trip stands or falls on the timing. We tell you in advance what fits into a day — including the statutory driving breaks that many people only discover en route.

What fits into a day from Berlin
Driving time each way, excluding breaks. Anything up to around three hours makes a relaxed day trip.
| Destination | Driving time each way | As a day trip |
|---|---|---|
| Spreewald (Lübbenau) | approx. 1 hour | Yes, with plenty of time on site |
| Potsdam & Sanssouci | approx. 45 minutes | Yes, several stops included |
| Baltic coast (Usedom, Rügen) | approx. 3 hours | Yes, but a long day |
| Dresden | approx. 2 hours | Yes, comfortably |
| Saxon Switzerland | approx. 2.5 hours | Yes, if the walk stays short |
| Hamburg | approx. 3 hours | Possible, but tight |
| Prague | approx. 3.5 hours | Better with an overnight stay |
Why driving hours govern the plan
A driver may drive at most 4.5 hours at a stretch and as a rule 9 hours a day. That is set by law and recorded by the digital tachograph — nothing can be bent about it, not even for a surcharge.
For a day trip that means: the outward journey, the return journey and the stay have to fit inside that frame. At three hours each way, around four hours remain on site if you set off early. Anyone wanting to stay longer needs either an overnight stay or a second driver.
We work that out before you book and tell you, rather than letting it become a problem on the road. That is the difference between a quote and a good quote.

What makes a good day out
- Set off earlyLeaving at 8 instead of 10 adds two hours on site. We are there when you say.
- One stop on the wayThe required break can be placed somewhere worth stopping instead of at the next service station.
- Settle the toilet questionCoaches and double-deckers have one; the Eco Coach and the smaller vehicles do not. On long stages that makes a difference.
- Fix the return timeA firm time at the bus saves more discussion at the end of the day than any arrangement made during it.

Common questions
Can we set the route ourselves?
Yes. Send us the stops, we check whether they fit within the driving hours, and we drive them. Places a twelve-metre bus can actually stop are not a given everywhere — we check that beforehand too.
Is a tour guide included?
Not as standard. We provide the bus and the driver. If you want a guided tour we are happy to put you in touch, but that is billed directly by the guide.
What happens if we run late?
The bus waits as long as the driving hours allow. If it gets tight, the driver says so in good time — better an honest word than an abandoned journey home.
Do you drive abroad?
Yes. We regularly drive to Prague, Amsterdam, Vienna and Poland. Beyond a certain distance we plan with an overnight stay or a second driver, and that is stated openly in the quote.
